How does the mobile phone camera module work?

The phone camera module is a camera component integrated inside the phone that takes photos and videos. The mobile phone camera module usually includes the lens, image sensor, digital signal processing chip and other key components.


The working principle of the mobile phone camera module can be summarized as the following steps:


1. The lens receives the light and focuses: when shooting the scene, the light enters the camera module through the lens of the phone. The purpose of the lens is to focus the light and project it onto the image sensor.


2. Image sensor captures images: Image sensor is the core component of the camera module, which is responsible for converting the received optical image into an electrical signal. Image sensors typically consist of millions to tens of millions of pixels, each of which captures light and converts it into electrical signals


3. Electrical signal conversion to digital signal: the electrical signal captured by the image sensor is further converted into digital signal. This process is usually achieved through an analog-to-digital converter (ADC), which converts a continuous analog signal into a discrete digital signal.


4. Digital signal processing: The converted digital signal will be processed by the digital signal processing chip (DSP). DSP can improve image quality by noise reduction, color correction and contrast enhancement.


5. Image output: The processed digital image signal will be transmitted to the processor of the mobile phone and finally displayed on the screen of the mobile phone. In short, the working principle of the mobile phone camera module involves many fields such as optics, electronics and signal processing, and the process of shooting the scene into an image and displaying it on the mobile phone screen is achieved through these steps.
